Another week down another week closer to the release of The Last Jedi. No time to waste lets jump into the news of the past week that you should know! Remember spoiler ahead!
Original Trilogy to be re-released in original cut?
According to Jason from MakingStarWars.net, he has received information that this may happen. He does stress that this is a Rumor. Later the same day Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo tweeted multiple times about this idea. Starting here:
Celebrating 20 years of that unaltered re-release rumor.

Basically he stated only George Lucas could authorize a non-SE cut of Star Wars to be done AND multiple sources said there is no non-SE remaster. I believe Jason’s sources are confused. We will get a 4k release of the OT:SE announced at either SWCO or D23. That’s it.
Rian used IMAX for The Last Jedi
Source: This isn’t a surprise is it? Hopefully its for a great action scene and based on the scenery it looks like it will be footage shot to represent Ahch-to. Maybe the rumored Luke vs Knights of Ren? The big question is how many scenes? It was said that JJ only filmed only one sequence with the IMAX camera for The Force Awakens. Multiple scenes for The Last Jedi could make the IMAX version super-cool, as if it wasn’t worth it already.
Joonas Suotamo is now a full time Chewie.
In a Statement last week Joonas confirmed he will be the only person in suit as Chewbacca in the Han Solo film. Its not clear if he is also the only one in The Last Jedi or if he will be the only one in Episode IX

New information about the State of the Galaxy in The Last Jedi
According to MakingStarWars the Republic is done! After the destruction of the government leaders the organization itself fell apart. This has left planets with two choices fight the First Order or join them. Snoke and the First Order are now no longer in the shadows. This is honestly what I expected. It would have been very difficult for a government to survive and the Republic was relatively new, not much older than the Empire that preceded it, and doesn’t have the momentum or structure to continue. Should be very exciting!
What’s interesting is this basically let’s the universe kind of reset to basically the same state of the OT, but with the First Order instead of the Empire. Perhaps this is what made the original Star Wars great, because the good guys were the underdogs, and this is basically where the rest of the ST will be, just different names for everything.
