“Back to the Future” and “The Goonies” take place on the same day

We’re back with a new one, and this time we’re bringing you a little something about two movies from 1985 that are so loved by my generation. If you were a kid in the 80s, you probably love Back to the Future and The Goonies. But what you probably didn’t know is that they share something in common: they take place on the same day. Both of these films were released in the summer of 1985, and have the same producers, but despite these films being 35 years old, nobody has every pointed this out! As a kid, I watched these movies more times than I can count, but I never noticed this until now.

Why Palpatine’s return was inevitable and predictable, and a horrific theory of how he did it.

When this theory first occurred to me, it sent chills down my spine. That’s right Star Wars fans. I’m about to drop a major theory that, if true, would be mega spoiler that would send ripples throughout the entire saga. These ripples have huge implications for movies and TV that we’ve seen, as well as what’s yet to come. It’s about to get ripply, believe it or not. Beware of spoilers. Proceed with caution, and strap yourself in if you do.

That Last Dangling Thread From the Prequels That Could Tie the Saga Together

Some people have seen the film at early showings, but I’m still in the group that hasn’t seen it, which gives me a little more time to speculate about Rise of Skywalker. As we approach the release of Rise of Skywalker, I have one last thing on my mind. Its a plot point that was kind of left open in the prequels. It is just my humble opinion, but this one little piece could explain everything that people complained about the sequel trilogy, and serve to explain why it exists in the first place. Spoilers and speculation below. Let’s get to it!

However, Palpatine’s return just might be right there in front of us. Spoilers and speculation below.

The Falcon, The Maw, and The Rise of Skywalker

With the release of The Rise of Skywalker trailer, it’s been quite an exciting time for the Star Wars community. Now that Palpatine is almost assuredly back, things are looking more and more like Lucasfilm has not only had an overall plan from the start, but has been dropping detectable clues along the way through other media. Three Meanings of “The Rise of Skywalker”

Hello, Star Wars fans! We’re still reeling from the excitement of Celebration. The biggest event for me was the Episode IX panel. There has been quite a lot of discussion online about the meaning of the title for the new film. However, if past films are any indication, the name probably has multiple meanings that could be revealed throughout the film. Let’s discuss three intriguing possibilities.

The Past and Future of Vader’s Mask

It goes without saying that the Sequel Trilogy leaves a huge, mysterious time gap of 30 years between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.  What it contains, we barely know, save for a few spotty retellings of Kylo Ren’s fall in The Last JediThe Force Awakens only hints at what came before, and the film contains a number of moments that can be read as foreshadowing or seeds planted for payoffs later. One of the biggest mysteries planted right into The Force Awakens that i don’t think has been taken seriously enough is Darth Vader’s mask.

Do The Nightsisters Offer Sequel Trilogy Clues?

The Clone Wars is George Lucas’s Silmarillion.  While it may be a cartoon, it was also the perfect medium for Lucas to expand a mythological background narrative that the Sequel Trilogy could be built on. One of the more under-appreciated elements of Lucas’s expanded world is the group of force users known as the Nightsisters.   In this article we will take a fresh look at who they are, and what implications the mythology surrounding them has for the Sequel Trilogy.

The Skywalker Saber in Episode IX

Rey’s lightsaber, also known as the Skywalker saber, is pretty important for the saga. Come to think of it, is any artifact more central to the Episodic Star Wars films? How Lucasfilm Has Changed Palpatine and Vader’s Motives, and What It Means for the Sequel Trilogy

Ever since Return of the Jedi, we’ve know about the dynamic between Vader and Palpatine. Palpatine’s objective is to rule the galaxy totally and completely, and at his side is Vader: attack dog and servant—trapped both in a mechanical prison and his role at the Emperor’s enforcer. However, new canon material reveals there is much more to it than that, and this has radical implications on the rest of the saga.

Lucasfilm dropped the name and the first image from Jon Favreau’s live action The Mandalorian and just about everyone is excited. The I Ching and the Tension in the Force

Greetings, Star Wars fans. It’s a pretty slow news time for Star Wars. We have a few pieces coming for next week’s recap, but today I’d like to discuss something more fundamental to Star Wars–The Force. There was a line from Luke in The Last Jedi that we should bring up. Perhaps the best way to learn about the Force is through characters that learn about it in the film, and the symbolism surrounding that.

Crimson Dawn and the Star Wars Underworld

Hello, Star Wars fans! I’ve been getting pretty excited about future prospects for Star Wars content, in particular exploring the “Underworld” of the Star Wars universe. This is nothing new, and stretches way back probably over a decade ago. The question I’ll consider is whether Lucasfilm is building an underworld cinematic universe within the even bigger cinematic universe of Star Wars. Let’s break it down. SPOILERS for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

How does Luke know Rey’s name?

The Last Jedi may have hidden a mysterious little bombshell in plain sight–one that escaped most fans including me. I for one was completely oblivious to this point until recently, and when I reread the novel to confirm it gave me chills. If it’s true, it totally changes how we would interpret Rey meeting Luke. Let’s discuss how Luke knows Rey’s name.

Episode IX: What we’d like to see

The Force Awakens set the table for the new trilogy, then The Last Jedi broke all the plates in the best way possible. That gives JJ Abrams a whole mess of plot lines and characters to try to bring to a conclusion AND still leave the possibility open for future trilogies. So lets look into what we think should happen and what we would like to see.

How Star Wars animation prepared us for The Last Jedi

I loved The Last Jedi. I’ve listened to the criticisms, and I just don’t agree with most of them, or at least I don’t think they are reason enough for response of a lot of fans. Some of the complaints in particular that I don’t agree with are about the new Force-powers. It turns out that they’re not new, and we’ve seen them before in Star Wars: Rebels and The Clone Wars. Spoilers for The Last Jedi below.

Kylo and Vader: The unredeemable

Since it was revealed that Kylo Ren was in fact Ben Solo there has been speculation that he is this trilogy’s Vader and he will be redeemed. There are many that have said because Kylo killed Han he can’t be redeemed. I think they are right but I also don’t think that Vader was ever redeemed. Confused? Lets take a dive into Vader Kylo and what redemption really is.

The link connecting the dual protagonists of The Last Jedi

The Star Wars databank, and other material, explicitly state that there is a “mysterious connection” between Rey and Kylo Ren. Of all the questions I have going into The Last Jedi (in like 8 days!!!), it is the meaning of this connection that intrigues me most. Surprisingly, as it turns out, the connection between Rey and Kylo Ren just might have its origins in The Phantom Menace. That’s because of a lot of new key details have been revealed about the connection between Kylo Ren and Rey from recent interviews–and the subtext of some of the interviews have shed a lot of light what exactly this connection is. In this speculative article, I will review the new details about the mysterious connection between Rey and Kylo Ren, and go out on a limb regarding what it means.
