Greetings to everyone out there in Star Wars land. We’re back to bring you another edition of the weekly Star Wars recap. Solo: A Star Wars Story is in theaters and we’ve got some news to report on other projects. Let’s get to it.
Original 35mm 1977 Star Wars film posted at Archive.org
This one is news to me. Apparently you can now watch the a restored version of the original 1977 release of Star Wars streaming at this site. The quality of the picture looks great! Just a few bloops here and there. This is as close to the original release as you can get as far as I know. So I’m not sure if this is condoned in any way by Lucasfilm, so watch it while you can.
Art of Solo: A Star Wars Story details
This book is available here for purchase here and at your local bookstore. You can check at a ton of the images here! Tons of great concept work here, and these kinds of books are always fun to read.
Kenobi film Corroborated by Ray Park?
If you follow this site, you know that we reported a few times recently about details regarding a future Kenobi film. Although it is not officially confirmed, Superbro Movies reports that at a recent convention, Ray Park “strongly implied” that the film was happening. Could this mean that Maul will be in it? Most interesting.
So funny that some one “strongly implies” something, and that is news. Such is the way with super-secretive Star Wars projects. Stay tuned for more. I will say based on Rebels it’s doubtful that Maul would be in an Obi-wan film.
Slow Box Office at Opening Weekend for Solo
New York Times is reporting about the possibility of Star Wars fatigue. Personally, I loved the film and have seen it twice. So I’m not worried about the numbers. 103.5 Million on opening weekend is apparently not enough, but for any other franchise, this would be good. This movie is an excellent popcorn flick with some of my favorite characters ever. Apparently people at Disney are working on this.
“We are all over it, and will spend a lot of time digging into why things happened the way they did. We have a year and a half before Episode IX comes out,” says Disney distribution chief Dave Hollis about #Solo box office

I personally don’t think they should change things too much. I think the worse thing that could happen is a bunch of executives wanting to change the Star Wars formula in such a way that would make it..not Star Wars. Tinkering with the formula too much to attract more ticket sales could backfire worse. Just stick to the tried and true principles of Lucas. They should hire good writers, directors and actors. And in my opinion, Solo meets this spectacularly. Frankly, I hope the keep the same director and writers for a Solo sequel. If anything, it might have been too soon after the previous film, which was only 6 months ago. The originals were spread out 3 years apart! So maybe they could spread them out more. As it stands, we’re looking at tons of new Star Wars on the way. I’m not sure what they should do other than keep bringing great characters, and keep making fun, exciting films. Honestly the marketing of the film and it’s closeness to The Last Jedi are the real issue, not fatigue but differentiating.
Lando returns in Episode IX?
Billy Dee Williams training and on a diet? This one comes from StarWarsNewsNet, based on a tweet. The tweet might be legit considering Billy Dee was at the convention. This isn’t confirmation by any stretch, but it would be great to see him. Bringing him back could be great considering we won’t see Leia or Han (unless they recast Leia).
Boba Fett Film?
This news comes from Hollywood Reporter. Who knows if it’s legit, but it’s interesting. We speculated last week about the opportunity to expand on the bounty hunters we know. Spoiler alert, but in the Solo film it is revealed that Tobias Beckett killed Aurra Sing. I think this exchange would be great to see in the Fett film, along with Cad Bane and others. A history between Beckett and bounty hunters could play into the backstory between Han and Boba if done right. I’m looking forward to hearing more about this, but I suspect this one is pretty far out in terms of when it will show up in theaters.
