Hello out there in Star Wars fandom! We’re back to bring you another round of Star Wars news and rumors. This week has a little meat on the bones compared to last! Let’s take a look.
Solo characters revealed in new commercial!
This Denny’s commercial is part of a promotion with Collider, and it shows Chewbacca in some sort of cantina, with tons of new aliens. Very Star Wars. These aliens kind of bring out the best of the old and new of the Star Wars universe.
I love the little CGI alien dude here, he’s not particularly expressive in the image, but the sound effects give a lot of character.
There is also the gran-looking alien that we’re using for our featured image for this post. I say gran-looking because he isn’t a gran–he has too many eyes–but kinda gives that vibe.
OK, so these are probably not major characters, and for all we know they’re not in the actual film, or just a blink-and-you-miss-them moment. Still, if the character design is in this flavor, we won’t be disappointed. I wonder if it’s a callback to what we will see when Han wins the Falcon too.
Huge Solo rumors surface!
These are RUMORS for sure, and totally unconfirmed. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t be doing our due diligence if we didn’t say something. Let’s just say I’m hoping this doesn’t happen, but some parts of this could certainly be true. The post comes from the Jedi Council Forums over at TFN, and have been taken down due to lack of evidence. Screen grabs have been posted on twitter:

Some of these things seem really hard to believe. In particular, the stuff about Lando being LGBTQ seems a bit of a stretch. I think the part about Han not being in the pilot’s chair during the Kessel run is also really hard to believe, however, he did always say it was the Falcon that made the run. I don’t recall him ever taking personal ownership of the run, but he did take offense in TFA when Rey misquoted it as 14 parsecs. Something about all this seems off, and the fact that it was posted REALLY close to April 1st…although technically a day before. Let’s just leave this here for now, and wait it out for more evidence one way or the other.
Other Solo news, movie is being finalized
Solo is wrapping up. New tweet from director Ron Howard have told us that the edit is completed and the score has been recorded. Also, an instagram post tells us that they are tweaking the opening of the film. We aren’t expecting an opening crawl–this one may start with something like Rogue One, or something totally new. It seems that the opening crawl is something just for the episodic saga. Expect something totally new for Solo. Also, check out this text-free poster:
Rey and Finn back together in Episode IX
This one comes from an interview with John Boyega, and ultimately comes from JJ via Daisy. Frankly, I can’t believe they let this one get out. Finn and Rey had quite a dynamic in The Force Awakens, so it will be great to see them together again. We’re not sure what this means about the dynamic with Rose and Finn, so there could be a triangle of sorts with those three? That said, the relationship between Rey and Finn was one of friendship it seemed. However, love triangle don’t necessarily mean love for all three, it could mean some jealousy from Rose. One could argue there was a “triangle” going on in Revenge of the Sith, but it was from Anakin’s jealousy seeing Obi Wan, and not based on any actual relationship between Padme and Obi Wan.
