Weekly Star Wars Recaps #170: Jan 2nd, 2019

Happy New Year, Star Wars fans! Somewhat of a slow news week here, but there are a few details worth sharing. Let’s get to it.

Production for Cassian Andor begins October 2019

This one comes from twitter, and it’s hard to believe, but the beginning of a new series is less ten months away! As we know, the Mandalorian has be in production for some time now, with a significant amount of filming underway in southern California. Giving the timing, it looks like Disney is stacking live action series content in preparation for Disney+ so that they can debut about a year apart.

Barriss Offee is an Inquisitor

Jason Ward has leaked on twitter that Barriss Offee will be an Inquisitor for the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game due out this year. Barriss had an unconventional trajectory in The Clone Wars, and a lot of people predicted that she might turn dark at some point. I think this is cool, and will hopefully play into the story a lot. I would expect out of all the Inquisitors, she would be the most conflicted, and give rise to some interesting character-driven story lines.

New Droid Character for The Mandalorian?

Jason Ward once again comes through with some details about The Mandalorian due later this year on Disney+. This droid looks like it was built from an astromech droid and some kind of four-armed ninja droid of some time. I have no idea. This is full-on hype-content for the series. Seeing that thing in action in a live-action series fight the Mando, well, we’ve got ourselves some good old fashion Star Wars fun. It sort of has a Samurai Jack vibe to it. This Mandalorian character going through the underworld, and fighting these foes, old and new.
