That’s im-POE-ssible! Everything we know about Poe in The Last Jedi

Though we have heard that Poe’s involvement will be more substantial in The Last Jedi, we have not gotten many details. He was the breakout character from The Force Awakens, gave Finn his name, and he wasn’t even supposed to survive. Luckily Oscar convinced JJ to keep Poe around and we’ll get to see more of him in The Last Jedi. I’m going to try to put together everything we know and see if we can figure out what Poe is up to during The Last Jedi.

Who were the Clan in TFA?

There has been much speculation on Rey’s orgins and one of the most prevalent ideas is that we see her family die in the Force-back in The Force Awakens. I’m referring of course to the “Clan” that was killed by Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren. Unfortunately, the timeline doesn’t really work for most of those theories, so the question is then who are the Clan? Let’s look into what we have learned and see who they might actually be. Potential spoilers ahead.

Praetorian Guards-Past and Present

Let me be honest, the first time I saw the Praetorian guards on MakingStarWars.net I was concerned. I thought they might be a little too derivative. I have changed my mind, these guys might be everything we hoped the Knights of Ren would be. Lets talk about them, their inspiration, and what it might mean for their future.

Everybody wants to Rule the Galaxy

The Sith under Palpatine had a goal, destruction of the Jedi and to rule the Galaxy. The First Order under Snoke has a goal, destruction of the Jedi and to Rule the Galaxy. In the old EU the darkside seemed to have the same goal 1000 years before ANH and few hundred years after. The question is why do they want to rule the Galaxy? Why did the First Order decide to leave the Unknown regions and attempt to take over? Lets see what we know and if we can figure out the motivations that drive Snoke and the First Order.

The Monsters of the Star Wars Galaxy

Monsters have been a recurring part of the Star Wars saga. From the “dianoga” from A New Hope, to the “bigger fish” of The Phantom Menace, our heroes have repeatedly encountered large dangerous creatures. The Last Jedi is certainly no different, and several details have emerged about a critical scene. Let’s take a moment to discuss, spoilers below.

The new EU

For years the old EU was the only new Star Wars we got, then the Prequels happened! And then it was back to the EU, which was then wiped clean with the exception of The Clone Wars series once Disney acquired Lucasfilm. This was done for several reason which we discussed here. It was a good call without most of the reasons and today I’m going to discuss why the New EU is so much better.

“Loth-rat, Loth-cat, Loth-wolf, run. Pick a path and all is done.”

In the season 2 episode entitled “Shroud of Darkness”, Ezra chooses his path by reciting the following Lothal rhyme:

Loth-rat, Loth-cat, Loth-wolf, run. Pick a path and all is done.

Is there any bigger meaning to this saying, or is it just a funny rhyme? And what exactly is a Loth-wolf, and how does it play into Season 4? Read on for more.

The Great Climax of the Sequel Trilogy

The Star Wars films have always upped the ante. When viewed in episodic order, the big climax at the end has always taken a bigger and bigger scale. From IV, V, VI, and VII we have gone from Death Star, to Death Star II, to StarKiller base. Where could we possibly go next? The answer might be right under our noses. Although this is a speculative article, there are possible spoilers as well, so be warned!

Opinion: Leia in IX

In the immediate aftermath of the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher, the last thing we wanted to think about was what happens to Star Wars. Though that is what brought her into most of our lives, it was inconsequential to the loss a daughter, mother, friend, and to the many she helped by championing mental health advocacy. With Episode IX now having finished its first draft and time to come to terms with the loss we are going to look into how we think Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow will handle the loss of Carrie and what happens to the character of Leia.

Its not Jar-Jar’s fault.

There are many things that get blamed on Jar-Jar Binks. The dislike of the prequels from fans that saw all of them 4 or more times in the theater. The formation of Empire because of his call for emergency powers. If not that, then the entire saga as he is the true Dark lord of the Sith behind it all… None of it his fault.
