Obi Wan film to film Spring 2019

This is a big one. Fantha Tracks has released the details on an Obi Wan film set to film next year. This one comes at the same time that Ewan was at the Solo premiere (see below). Others have confirmed this rumor, so it looks legit. The possibilities are huge. Will Maul show up? I suspect not if only because the time frame is likely to be in the first 10 years after RotS.

New Details on the live-action Star Wars TV show

This one we reported on yesterday. The scoop is that the show will take place 7 years after the battle of Yavin. Lots of episodes are written. Expect new characters and new planets, but still within the canonical timeline. It isn’t clear yet to what extent the old characters will be there, but there may be some fancy CGI that could enable classic characters.

New Solo footage and content.

The featured image for this post comes from Phil Szostak on twitter. If you’re looking for new footage and new TV spots, check out past videos like Han meeting Lando, and tons of others, like this onethis one, this one, and this one! That last one pretty much confirms that Enfys Nest is not Qi’ra, as we have speculated before.

Solo Premiere!

The Solo premiere brought out the stars to see the film. The premiere had a full-size Millennium Falcon on hand. Ewan McGregor and Ray Park were there. The consensus appears to be the film is “fun”, but isn’t spectacular. Hey, that’s good enough for me. One thing is pretty clear–this film sets up sequels. Leaves a lot unfinished, and opens up a lot of questions. Rian Johnson commented on the film, among many others. There was a Q&A with the cast.

Major Solo Spoiler

This one is pretty well confirmed, so I would use caution in reading it. This one is about a major character in the film that pretty much nobody expected. Are you ready?

Solo premiere

The character is none other than Maul. Before the situations he’s been in on Rebels, and apparently after the events of the The Clone Wars, Maul was a crime boss. He is briefly seen in  a hologram with Qi’ra. This scene, to me, clearly opens up more questions than answers. How exactly does Maul fit into this and how did he become a crime lord? Well, we know Maul is talented, so it isn’t surprising. The big question is what this means going forward. It certainly suggests a role for Maul in future Star Wars films. This, to me (davestrrr) is great because it gives us a chance to develop the character more in the films, which many fans wanted after his quick departure from the prequels. Could this lead into an Obi Wan film? It occurs to me that it would be kind of cool to see Ewan and Ray Park act out their encounter from Rebels for the big screen. Could work, but they’ve never done anything quite like that–duplicating a scene in both animation and film.

While Davestrr is excited I(mazlow01) am not. There is already one review out there from a casual that is confused at the timeline because of the inclusion of Maul. As far as the average movie goer is concerned (and me) Maul died in The Phantom Menace. Personally the inclusion of Maul in the cartoons felt like a mistake to begin with, having him be in Solo when there are literally 10 other characters that could have fit the role… well it smacks of pulling the strins of nostalgia for no reason other than toys.

One of the problems with this one is that Solo can’t ever really meet Maul, or see him in action in order to make his quote from A New Hope make sense. At that time, the thinks that the Force is nothing but simple tricks and nonsense. Part of a hokey religion. Therefore, they need to be careful to keep these two apart. That, of course could convolute the story. We’ll keep on eye on this one and keep you posted!
