I must say, it does seems a bit strange not having a Star Wars film. The next best thing might be a trailer? Santa can you hear me? This week has been pretty exciting in the Star Wars world. There have been a lot of rumors–some credible, some not. Let’s get to the news!
Trailer Coming?
This one is sort of a rumor at this point, but Steven Weintraub of Collider has tweeted that we should expect to see some footage of Episode IX this month. Like I said in the intro, winter holiday just isn’t the same without something new and Star Wars on the big screen. Here’s hoping for a teaser of some kind.

Episode IX Details
These new details come from none other than Making Star Wars. The MSW crew have been releasing a lot of details lately. MSW doesn’t release rumors unless they are highly credible and/or corroborated by multiple sources. Last week we got some new details about a lot of new Star Wars content from them, and it almost feels like the floodgates have opened up. Quite a lot of new rumors and leaks are coming forth. This week, they stated that Rey still has the Skywalker saber, and they also list three different planet environments: “jungle”, “desert”, and “swamp”. They also don’t have indication that the desert planet is Jakku or Tatooine at this point. I wonder if the jungle planet could be Batuu, which is said to have forests. While on the subject of Episode IX, there is one more detail. This one comes from Sun UK, so take with a grain of salt. However, this one seems legit. It sounds like musician Ed Sheeran will be playing a stormtrooper in IX. He landed a role much like Daniel Craig and others. This is one we’ll probably here about later when the film is released, but don’t expect to even recognize him in the film.
Kevin Smith on the Episode IX Set
Once again, Kevin Smith has visited the set of Star Wars. He doesn’t leak any details, obviously he’s not stupid! He does say some pretty exciting things though. First, he states that an actor gives the performance of their career. Quite intriguing! Is it Luke? Is it some of the repurposed footage of Leia? Kevin also goes on the describe the immensity of the set, and that JJ is “doing the Lord’s work” and compared the operation to a “small country”. Good stuff, and I will look forward to his review of the film.
