Star Wars News Recap #177: July 22nd, 2019

Hello out there Star Wars fans! We’re back with another recap of the latest in Star Wars. This week we’ve got a few pieces of tantalizing, albeit open-ended info. Let’s get right to it!

Kevin Smith teases the ending of Rise of Skywalker

This one could mean anything. Kevin didn’t actually see the ending, but he was told it would spoil a scene that he wouldn’t want to spoil. I don’t know what it means to say it would “melt your mind”, but something like a Force-ghost reunion or Force-ghost/Sith spirit wizard combat would do the trick. Not sure what this means, but cool to think about.

More Lego Leaks

Some of the first leaks that surface tend to be from lego figures. They only provide so much info in the grad scheme of things, and don’t really tell much beyond what is already known about these characters. Nevertheless, you can check out the head and torso of Allegiant General Pryde, the First order officer that will be played by Richard E. Grant. You may recall that this character has already been seen in photos over at Vanity Fair, so these lego figures don’t exactly leak anything. They are at least consistent with the sort of serious and angry face, and the black robe-like uniform. It’s hard to describe, but sort of folds over like a karete gi or a similar impression. This and the baton like thing in his hand make me wonder if he has some hand-to-hand combat of some type. Two figures for Knights of Ren also surfaced here. Same as with Pryde, these characters have been seen, but still kind of cool to see.

Rise of Skywalker book cover art revealed

This one shows a few cool details, including one of the Knights of Ren, and a new TIE fighter design. I don’t know whether the spelling of “D-O” had been officially announced yet, but it may have been seen somewhere at Celebration. Most of the info on this cover has been trickling in through various other channels. Cool to see anyway:

Similarly, this leaked image of a sticker book cover also surfaced. Not much to see here, and most of these characters have already been seen in Vanity Fair and other sources.

More Proof that Rey is not originally from Jakku

This may still be a point of debate, but another leak explicitly states that Rey was left on Jakku from another planet. Apparently, this info has been out from other sources, such as Rey’s Survival Guide. Still makes me wonder about Kylo’s statement about Rey’s parents being buried in a pauper’s grave on Jakku. If Rey isn’t from Jakku, and she saw their ship take off on Jakku, then why did they stay on Jakku long enough to be buried there? Could just mean that the money they got from selling Rey really did only cover drinking money, and not enough to escape the planet with.
