Star Wars News Recap #178: August 14th, 2019

Hello, Star Wars fans! We’re back for another edition of the weekly recap. With D23 rapidly approaching, we just might be on the brink of some big news. Today we have some details, but the impact isn’t a huge revelation, but rather some minor notes. Let’s get to it!

Rise of Skywalker and Mandalorian footage at D23

This one comes from our friends at Star Wars Underworld. It sounds like TROS will be previewed along with a number of other Disney properties. So it could be anything from a brief clip to a larger piece of footage. I would expect this to be relatively minor, but you know once people dissect whatever footage we have, there just might be some new details in there. The TROS footage could come at August 24th at 10am PST, so keep an eye out online for details.  As far as the Mandalorian goes, expect more detailed footage the day before, August 23rd at 3:30pm. This one is to be a “sneak peak” so this could either be reused footage from Celebration, or something more. Eitherway, for many people this will be the first exposure to the show.

New Production Name for Star Wars Project?

Bespin Bulletin is reporting on a new potential “production code name” for a future Star Wars project. The name “Barking Lion Productions” has been registered, and they name Lucasfilm as a shareholder. The article goes on to speculate that the Benioff and Weiss picture may be a likely candidate, and this make sense to me. It could certainly also be something like a new series, such as the long-rumored Kenobi series. Time will tell on this one, and while this isn’t much info to go on, any news is interesting at this point.

Lots of New Production Details for Upcoming Star Wars Projects

This one comes from a recent article at Star Wars News Net, reporting on a tweet from “Formula Money”. While the tweet doesn’t give too many details, but references the “E&E production name” leaked by Fantha Tracks, SWNN does go on to speculate that the future home could be a new expansion of Pinewood studios.  Adding to all this is a recent article from Making Star Wars, where they report that the Cassian Andor series and the Benioff and Weiss movies could be filmed in Dagenham, which is in England but not in the usual Pinewood studios. MSW also added that they think the production name for the Cassian series will be “White Snake”.
