Lucasfilm dropped the name and the first image from Jon Favreau’s live action The Mandalorian and just about everyone is excited. I have to say credit goes to MakingStarWars, if he wasn’t dropping the information all week I doubt we would have gotten an official news drop on a Thursday evening of all days… So let’s look at we expect will and won’t be happening in the new live action series.

A Star Wars Story: What should happen next
With Solo: A Star Wars Story discourse dying down and the experts saying marketing and timing were to blame for its box office disappointment the question becomes what does Lucasfilm and Disney learn from this and what direction should they head? Let’s take a look.
Episode IX: What we’d like to see
The Force Awakens set the table for the new trilogy, then The Last Jedi broke all the plates in the best way possible. That gives JJ Abrams a whole mess of plot lines and characters to try to bring to a conclusion AND still leave the possibility open for future trilogies. So lets look into what we think should happen and what we would like to see.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #137: April 9th, 2018
Another week down and it looks like the SOLO leaks are on the way! Lets jump into the week’s news and as always Spoilers ahead.
The one problem with the sequel trilogy
Every Star Wars trilogy has had its issues. Despite a vocal minority that seems to dislike anything they can find in the sequels, including things well established in the previous two trilogies, the sequels have had very few real issues. There is one issue that they have had, their reliance on Original Trilogy characters. Episode IX has the chance to avoid this, they just have to limit Luke to a cameo. Shocked? Lets look at what this means.
Interpreting Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi
Today, we’d like to discuss the giant elephant in the Star Wars room–Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi. As it turns out, Rian Johnson gave us a Luke that better than anything we could imagine, and truer to the character than anything we got in the old EU. Shocked, disagree? Spoilers ahead.

Fastest Hunk of Junk in the Galaxy
The Millennium Falcon is a ship that has inspired many designer and fan and defined the “lived in” feel of Star Wars. Its been as much a character in the films as any actor and now we get to see its beginnings. Which makes me ask, what the heck happened to it? Spoilers ahead.
Weekly Recap #127: Feb 5th, 2018
Another week another recap. Not much to report, no real news has dropped or really anything of note… just a TV spot and trailer for SOLO! Holy cow they look good, lets jump in and remember spoilers ahead.
Kylo and Vader: The unredeemable
Since it was revealed that Kylo Ren was in fact Ben Solo there has been speculation that he is this trilogy’s Vader and he will be redeemed. There are many that have said because Kylo killed Han he can’t be redeemed. I think they are right but I also don’t think that Vader was ever redeemed. Confused? Lets take a dive into Vader Kylo and what redemption really is.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #125: January 22nd, 2018

Unless you live under a rock or are on a social media blackout to avoid The Last Jedi spoilers you heard the news yesterday; Rian Johnson is going to be making a new Star Wars Trilogy with his collaborator Ram Bergman. WHAT? OK lets look at the VERY little information dropped yesterday and make some wild guesses on what that new trilogy will encompass.
Darkness Rises
Holy cow did that little trailer just come out of nowhere. A 45 second TV spot and I’m even more hyped than I was for the trailer that came out just a few weeks ago. Let’s talk about why. Potential spoilers ahead.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #113: Oct 30, 2017
Another week and a bunch of mini-spoilers and things that look like spoilers but probably aren’t. There are now just a mere 45 days left until The Last Jedi, so things are coming fast and furious. Lets look into all of it and break it down! Potential spoilers ahead.
Trailer talk: About that last scene
You know the one. Rey speaking, the darkness surrounding her light shining on her face, Kylo in the dark with his stretched out. Internet sleuths quickly deduced that this was a misdirection and the two scenes were shot at different places and take place at different times in the film. They were right about the scenes are different shots but is it really misdirection? Lets explore these scenes, as always potential spoilers ahead.
Luke Rising from the Ashes
The Force-back in The Force Awakens showed us Luke looking heart broken next to R2 with a burning building in the background. That image gave us ideas of what may have happened, and most of the theories developed went with “Luke came home to find his Academy, and students killed by Kylo Ren and possibly the Knights of Ren.” But now we know that is not true. Let’s talk about what that means.
Luke Skywalker: A Lost Hope.
Ever since Mark Hamill said he fundamentally disagreed with Rian Johnson’s choices for Luke and the “The Jedi must end” line in the teaser, people have speculated that Luke will go dark. They are wrong. Today we’re going to explore why they are wrong and what Mark and the line really means.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #109: Oct 2nd, 2017
We took most of last week to recharge but we are back and bringing the fire! Here is all the news that is fit to report, warning: spoilers ahead!
The Latest Han Solo rumor…
The untitled Han Solo has been through quite a bit of production woes. It also doesn’t seem to have intrigued many fans, this is my own personal perspective based on social media and article comments etc. The latest rumor has split the fan base as well. Lets look into it and talk about what it could mean.
Getting to the Hux of the matter
If there is one character we don’t really know much about, besides Snoke of course, it’s General Armitage Hux. He seems to be fanatical and in charge of the military wing of the First Order… and that’s about it. No novels about him, no short stories, and no comics, and he is a strong secondary character. Lets look into what we do know and see if we can figure him out. Speculation and spoilers to follow.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #106: Sept 11, 2017
Another week another recap! And boy howdy we got some news for you! Let’s jump right into it and remember spoilers ahead!
Facing the 5-ton Bantha in the Room
Lets not be coy, Lucasfilm and its directors are having a problem. It seems the only film so far of the five known films without script and/or director problems was The Last Jedi. That seems a little disconcerting to most fans but we’re going to say it should be encouraging. Let’s talk about why.
Look at the size of that thing: Ships of The Last Jedi
Today we’re gonna talk about all the ships we’re going to be seeing in The Last Jedi. There are some cool designs and some that are not so cool(IMO). So lets see what the Resistance and the First Order will be working with.

That’s im-POE-ssible! Everything we know about Poe in The Last Jedi
Though we have heard that Poe’s involvement will be more substantial in The Last Jedi, we have not gotten many details. He was the breakout character from The Force Awakens, gave Finn his name, and he wasn’t even supposed to survive. Luckily Oscar convinced JJ to keep Poe around and we’ll get to see more of him in The Last Jedi. I’m going to try to put together everything we know and see if we can figure out what Poe is up to during The Last Jedi.

Who were the Clan in TFA?
There has been much speculation on Rey’s orgins and one of the most prevalent ideas is that we see her family die in the Force-back in The Force Awakens. I’m referring of course to the “Clan” that was killed by Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren. Unfortunately, the timeline doesn’t really work for most of those theories, so the question is then who are the Clan? Let’s look into what we have learned and see who they might actually be. Potential spoilers ahead.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #102: August 14th 2017

Praetorian Guards-Past and Present
Let me be honest, the first time I saw the Praetorian guards on MakingStarWars.net I was concerned. I thought they might be a little too derivative. I have changed my mind, these guys might be everything we hoped the Knights of Ren would be. Lets talk about them, their inspiration, and what it might mean for their future.

Everybody wants to Rule the Galaxy
The Sith under Palpatine had a goal, destruction of the Jedi and to rule the Galaxy. The First Order under Snoke has a goal, destruction of the Jedi and to Rule the Galaxy. In the old EU the darkside seemed to have the same goal 1000 years before ANH and few hundred years after. The question is why do they want to rule the Galaxy? Why did the First Order decide to leave the Unknown regions and attempt to take over? Lets see what we know and if we can figure out the motivations that drive Snoke and the First Order.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #98: July 10th, 2017
Last week was a very good week to be a Star Wars fan. We got several new episodes of Forces of Destiny and some news sprinkled in here and there. So lets take a look and see what has developed.
Solo: Uh, everything’s under control. Situation normal.
After a weekend of people questioning whether Collin Trevorrow would be the right guy for the job on Episode IX Lucasfilm fired Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from the Untitled Han Solo movie. This is shocking on several levels and we are going to breakdown what we know so far and give a few opinions.

Weekly Star Wars Recap #95: June 19th, 2017
Another week another recap! Not a whole of breaking news here but we did get some confirmation of earlier news. Spoilers ahead!
The new EU
For years the old EU was the only new Star Wars we got, then the Prequels happened! And then it was back to the EU, which was then wiped clean with the exception of The Clone Wars series once Disney acquired Lucasfilm. This was done for several reason which we discussed here. It was a good call without most of the reasons and today I’m going to discuss why the New EU is so much better.
Weekly Star Wars Recap #93: June 5th 2017
This week we have few new bits of information from MakingStarWars and leaks via Lego. Lets jump into the new info and remember spoilers ahead! more “Weekly Star Wars Recap #93: June 5th 2017”

The weapon of Jedi Knight that told Vader Luke had completed his training, the question is why. Let’s jump into what rumors are out concerning Luke and see if we can figure it out. Potential Spoilers ahead.
Vanity Fair: The Last Jedi
As predicted by many this week Vanity Fair rolled out their Last Jedi issue.
